Editing Services for Authors
I welcome heavy edits!
Developmental editing
Developmental editing is the first stage of editing and is usually applied to a first or rough draft. Its is recommended to get a developmental edit prior to passing the manuscript on to beta readers. Some authors get a developmental edit to help recover from writer’s block, or are looking for a fresh view. In these cases, the manuscript may not be finished. Many authors change the manuscript after a developmental edit. At this stage, the focus is on story, flow, pacing, and content. Read more about Developmental editing

Line Editing
Line editing is for manuscripts that are almost ready for publication. Beta readers may still be reading your manuscript. You may have an artist working on the cover or you’re ready to shop for an artist. You are done applying changes to the manuscript. If changes are needed during an edit, now is the time to do it.

A word about my editing style…
I take my edits very seriously and handle your manuscript like I handle my own: cold and methodically. I show no mercy (to the words).
I have high standards and have a reputation of being thorough and tough. I can not, in good conscience, give you any less than my best.
If you know me, I am warm, friendly, and kind. When I edit, I enter “the cold zone.” This comes through in my edits. I do not believe a cruel edit will improve anyone. I believe an honest critique will. I edit for everything including aesthetics (the branch of philosophy that deals with the principles of beauty and artistic taste.) If I suggest a change due to aesthetics, I will tell you this is so. Feel free to disregard aesthetic changes I recommend. If you wish me to not edit for aesthetics, let me know before we begin.
I do not just change things. I make it a point to tell you why I change something. I do this to justify the change to myself, so I don’t change things haphazardly. I force myself to think about the edit. I do this to keep my own writing skills sharp, and to better help you and your story.
I am always available for follow up.
